Q1.How do I register?
Please read all of information about KarsJapan.com and feel comfortable with our service, simply click here to complete the new member registration form. If you need a little more time to be ready for registration, you can click on Free Registration in the upper middle of the screen later on. As soon as the registration is complete, Login ID & Password for your account and ID & Password for access to the Auction Site will be sent by email within 24 hours.
Q2.What privilege do I receive by registration?
You will receive ID & Password for access to the Auction Site that will allow access to search over 150,000 vehicles every week from 85 major auction houses.
You will also be allowed access to KarsJapan.com member pages as follows:
Place an Auction Order
Review your order history
Review the auction result
Review and edit your registered information
Change your Login ID and/or Password
Furthermore, you will receive privilege of free translation in English of the Auction Sheet, evaluation and suggestion for your bidding price, and pre bidding inspection of your cars before proceeding with bidding process.

The Auction Site is updated daily except Sunday.
Q6.Can I search the vehicles in the Auction Site before registration?
No, only our members are supplied with ID & Password for access to the Auction Site. As soon as registration is complete, you will be able to browse through the Auction Site.
Q7.Can I have the Auction Sheet to be translated in English?
Yes, we can provide translation in English of the Auction Sheet free of charge for active customer with deposit. Please click here to request the Auction Sheet Translation.

Yes, you can. Please click Inquiry on top page, and send us vehicles details. We will help you find your car from various sources.

Q10.What is KarsJapan Flat Fee?
KarsJapan Flat Fee is a standard fee that process from purchasing a vehicle at the auction on your behalf to export preparation for your vehicle.
KarsJapan Flat Fee includes the following costs:

Arrangement of shipping documents
Arrangement of inland transport from auction house to the closest port of loading.

Q11.What are FOB, CRF, CIF?
FOB is an abbreviation for Free On Board. The term is commonly used when shipping vehicles, to indicate who pays loading and transportation costs, and/or the point at which the responsibility of the vehicles transfers from shipper to buyer.
CFR, Cost and Freight, means that the shipper pays for transportation to the Port of Loading (POL), loading and Ocean freight fee. The buyer pays for the marine insurance and transportation of the vehicles from the Port of Discharge (POD) to his factory.
CIF means that the selling price includes the cost of the vehicles, ocean freight fee and also the cost of marine insurance.
Q12.How much is inland transport fee from the auction house to the port of loading?

This cost table is applied for vehicles of regular size up to 12.0m3 only. The vehicles of bigger size such as 12.1m3 15m3 are added on 20% to costs listed on. For more big size or special vehicles such as trucks, buses, and unmovable vehicles, please contact us
Q13.How much is the ocean freight fee?

Ocean Freight Fee
The rates are for your reference purpose only because the freight rate changes very frequently by the fluctuation of oil price and currency exchange rate. For more accurate information, please contact us.
Deposit
Q14.Do I have to make an extra deposit if I want to buy more than one car?
Yes, the minimum deposit on each vehicle is 100,0000JPY (US$1,000). If you want to buy 3 cars, the total deposit is 300,000JPY (100,000JPY 3 cars).
Q15.Can you refund my deposit?
Yes, the deposit can be refunded before you have won the auction. However; after success bidding, we do not accept any cancellation.

Q16.I am buying from your stock list. Do I have to make a deposit?
No, you do not have to make a deposit. However, our stock will be sold upon First come, First serve basis, and contract is formed upon receipt of full payment. To avoid that the car you ordered was sold to other customer while in process of payment, we recommend making a deposit of more than 10% of FOB price or JPY100,000 (or US$1,000) whichever is greater. With regards to customers with deposit, the contract is formed upon your purchase order.
Place a Bid
Q17.How do I know if I have won the auction?
You will receive an email notification of the auction result immediately after the auction is closed regardless of winning or failed bid. Also you can check the auction result at Auction Order History
Q18.Can I place a bid at any price?
No, the bidding price should be realistic price. If your bidding price is too much lower than the market price, we might decline your bid. Please check the Market Price before place a bid.
Q19.My bidding was failed. What should I do?
There are 2 options. You can choose either way as you like.
Continue to look for alternative cars (We will continue to support your auction process until your bid is successful).
Cancel your bid (Your deposit will be refunded).
Q20.Can I search the market value of vehicle I aim?
Yes, you can search the market value of similar vehicles you aim at the Market Price. You will get a good idea of your bidding price from successful bid price in the previous auction.
Q21.How can I cancel a bid?
Once the bid has been placed, it can not be cancelled or retracted unless we have a cancellation notice from you by fax 24 hours before bidding.
Q22.What time is the bid order cut off?
The bid order must be submitted by no later than 9AM Japan Time on the day of the auction.
Q23.How do I know if I have been outbid?
You will be notified that someone has outbid your highest bid price. If the auction is still open, you will have a chance to place a new bid. Please go back to the Auction Order Form and submit again.

Receive Invoice
Q24.When do I receive an invoice?
An invoice will be sent to your registered email address within 24 hours after your bid is successful. Please contact us if you do not receive an invoice by that time.
Payment
Q25.What are your payment terms?
Full payment shall be made by T/T (Telegraphic Transfer) or Western Union within 3 bank working days starting from and including invoice date. Delay of payment without notice causes voiding sales contract. For more details, please click here

Q31.Can I insure my shipment?
Yes you can. Please inform us of your wish to insure your shipment during the order process.
Q32.How long it will take to reach car?
It may take about 3 to 8 weeks after car leaves Japanese port depending on the destination, shipping company, or other unpredictable conditions. We arrange best shipping company for destination port as per services. We have tie-up with different shipping companies for different destination ports.
Receive Documentations
Q33.When do I receive documents?
All documents as below will be sent to your consignee address by Express Mail Service, DHL, or FedEx after the vessel has departed. These documents are usually necessary in customs clearance at the port of discharge. Please ask us if you need other documents for your local customs:

Q34.What does Consignee mean?
The consignee is the person whose name is listed on the Bill of Lading and entitled to receive delivery of the goods. Any discrepancies involved with consignee details can add to delay in shipment. So it is best to ensure the correct consignee details are listed.
Collect Your Cars
Q35.What documents do I need for customs clearance?
Required documents for customs clearance are different each country. However, Customs Invoice, Original B/L (Bill of Lading), and Export Certificate are usually necessary in all customs. Please ask for more details to your local customs agent.
Q36.How do I collect my cars?
As soon as you receive the documents, please contact your local customs agent for customs clearance a week prior to the actual arrival date of vessel. As per customs agent, you can pick up your cars at the port.

Q37.What is JAAI inspection?
The JAAI (Japan Auto Appraisal Institute) is a certification of the quality of the vehicle approved by the JAAI. In some countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, Bangladesh, etc, the government requires JAAI pre-shipment inspection certificate for used vehicles to be imported to their countries. Without JAAI inspection certificate, the consignee will be required to pay a penalty. We will arrange JAAI inspection certificate at an extra cost before shipment.
